Aluminum Micro Fuel Cells - Safety
IEC 62282-6-110

Scope This standard relates to the addition of a new fuel type to the 2nd edition of International Standard IEC 62282-6-100, Fuel cell technologies - Part 6-100: Micro fuel cell power systems - Safety. The International Standard IEC 62282-6-100 is applicable to micro fuel cell power systems, micro fuel cell power units andfuel cartridges that are wearable or easily carried by hand, providing d.c. outputs that do not exceed 60 V d.c. and power outputs that do not exceed 240 VA. The main solid substance for the new fuel type of this activity is Class 4.3 (water reactive) aluminum, i.e. UN No. 1396 ALUMINIUM POWDER, UNCOATED in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations. Hydrogen generated from the reaction of aluminium and water is used for aluminum micro fuel cell power systems. Consequently, the main point of this activity is to addaluminum micro fuel cell power systems to the 2nd edition of IEC 62282-6-100.
