Scope For a.c. and d.c. type portable fuel cell systems (not for road vehicles).  The following fuels and fuel feedstocks are within the scope of this standard: 1) hydrogen, 2) natural gas, 3) liquefied petroleum, such as, propane and butane, 4) liquid alcohols such as methanol and ethanol, 5) gasoline, 6) diesel, 7)kerosene, 8) metals, such as Zn or Al, or 9) chemical hydrides.

Scope Adopted part of IEC 62282 series that covers operational and environmental aspects of the stationary fuel cell power systems performance.  The test methods apply as follows:

     b.  electrical and thermal efficiency under specified operating conditions
     c.  environmental characteristics; e.g. gas emissions, noise, etc. under specified operating and transient conditions.

Scope This consumer safety standard, adapter from IEC 62282 series, covers micro fuel cell power systems, micro fuel cell power units and fuel cartridges that are wearable or easily carried by hand, providing d.c. outputs that do not exceed 60 V d.c. and power outputs that do not exceed 240 VA. Portable fuel cell power systems that provide output levels that exceed these electrical limits are covered by IEC 62282-5-1.
