Hydrogen Fuel – Product Specification

Scope This activity is to update the current standard ISO 14687-1999.  This international standard specifies the quality characteristics of hydrogen fuel in order to assure uniformity of the hydrogen product as produced and distributed for utilization in vehicular applications or other fueling applications  (Note: ISO 14687:1999 Cor 2:2008 removed PEM fuel cells for road vehicles from the scope.)

ISO/TS 14687-2
Hydrogen Fuel – Product Specification
Part 2: PEM fuel cell applications for road vehicles

This technical specification will be incorporated into an updated ISO 14687 so that the standard more adequately addresses hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles.

Status ISO TS 14687-2:2008 has been published.

The Working Group is now working toward a Draft International Standard, which experts agree will take a couple years to develop. Long-term R & D projects are required to fill in the data gaps in order to progress from a Technical Specification to a Draft International Standard.
